New Boost for Deep-Sea Exploration: High-Pressure Petroleum Machinery Valve Components Successfully Used in 1,500-Meter Deep-Sea Oil Wells
2025,08,21
Recently, my country's independently developed high-pressure
Petroleum Machinery valve components were successfully deployed in a 1,500-meter deep-sea oil well in the South China Sea. After 72 hours of continuous operating tests, all performance indicators met design standards, filling a gap in the application of valve components at this depth in China.
According to the head of the R&D team, the pressure at 1,500 meters in the deep sea is equivalent to 150 atmospheres, and the complex environment, including low temperatures and seawater corrosion, places extremely high demands on the sealing performance and structural strength of valve components. Previously, such core components were long imported, resulting in high procurement costs and long after-sales response times, hindering deep-sea mining efficiency.
The valve components used in this application utilize a new nickel-based alloy material and a multi-layer sealing structure. After tens of thousands of simulated operating tests, the pressure rating has exceeded 200 MPa, corrosion resistance is 40% higher than traditional products, and the service life can reach over 8 years. In actual operations, this component precisely controls
Drilling fluid flow, successfully managing high-pressure fluctuations in the deep sea and ensuring continuous and stable oil well production.
"This breakthrough not only reduces the cost of domestically produced deep-sea production equipment but also breaks the international technology monopoly." Industry experts stated that the successful application of this component will promote the independent development of my country's deep-sea oil production equipment and provide technical support for the further development of deep-sea oil and gas resources. The R&D team has already begun developing the next generation of products, targeting ultra-deep-sea operations at depths of 3,000 meters.
